Escape the city

Escape the city

What Matthew has to say about this route:

It's amazing how many wonderful trails there are so close to the city! Just a stones throw from The Yellow House you are onto quiet and smooth logging roads.

The perfect introduction to riding gravel in Ireland, this route combines some of the best parts of off road riding: short punchy climbs, beautiful scenery, and a bit of clambering over gates (I suspect we will need to get used to this).

Anyone who tries this route will certainly be hooked and put the road bike away for the summer.

What Anthony has to say about this route:

A great ride to "dip your toes" in gravel riding. The trails are mostly hard pack or logging roads.

This isn't a very technical route but that doesn't take away from the enjoyment. A few short but challenging climbs.

An amazing escape from busy city life. Your legs will hurt a little after but this ride felt like it cleaned my soul.

Difficulty rating: Beginner

This route is suitable for beginners, a road bike with 28mm tyres would be suitable for anyone wanting to dip their toes in. Matthew and Anthony completed this ride in a set of road shoes and road pedals, however both concluded that anything gnarlier would require mountain bike shoes.
